Popsicle Stick Superhero

Updated: Jun 26, 2021

This craft is for preschool and school-age kids, and is a fun way to express your artsy side! But the fun does not stop after you’re done making your superhero, it can be a source of creative play after. This activity sparks imaginative play and expresses creativity. There is also a ballerina popsicle stick craft blog post as well, if you want to make a friend for your superhero!

Supplies:

- Popsicle/Craft sticks (2 sizes— a bigger one for the body, and a smaller size for the arms)

- Markers (a black marker, and a color for the superhero suit and shoes)

- Construction Paper (for a cape)

- Small googly eyes (or a black marker)

- Glue

- Scissors

Activity Steps:

Step 1: First, we are going to draw and color our superhero. Draw on your superhero’s mask with a marker. Color from the very top of the popsicle stick to about an inch down. Next glue on the googly eyes on top of the mask, or with a black marker draw eyes on. Finally, draw on a smile with a black marker.

Step 2: Next, draw and color with a marker the super suit. Leave a small space between the face you just drew and then draw a straight line with a marker. Draw another line at the bottom of the popsicle stick, about an inch, this is where you will draw the shoe on. (We are going to use a different color marker for our superhero’s shoes.) Color in between the two lines you just drew.

Step 3: Draw your superhero’s logo on the center of the top. It can be any shape, a cool design, or even a letter.

Step 4: Draw a horizontal line (straight across), your superhero with a black marker. Do this half way down, this is where the pants are. Next draw a vertical (up and down) line in the middle of your popsicle underneath the horizontal line you just drew. This is going to be the legs.

Step 5: Don’t forget about your superhero’s arms! Cut the smaller of the two popsicles in half. Then color the rest of your super suit onto the smaller popsicle sticks that are the arms. Leave a small uncolored space for the hands. We will attach them with glue at the end!

Step 6: Draw on shoes. With a different colored marker, draw on shoes for your superhero. Draw a line in between, so you get two seperate shoes. You can even add laces and a bow if you want!

Helpful Hint: Draw the letter X 3 times on top of each other for. Then add a circle with two loops on either side for a bow.

Step 7: Give your awesome superhero a cape. On your construction paper draw and cut out a triangle that is almost as big as your superhero/popsicle stick. Glue it to the back of your superhero.

Remember: make sure your googly eyes are glued on before placing your superhero facedown.

Step 8: Last step is to glue the two smaller popsicle sticks on either side of the bigger popsicle stick. This is the arms of your superhero. Glue the arms about an inch from the top of the popsicle stick. You can do any arm position you want. Both down, both up, or one of each so it looks like your superhero is blasting into the air.

Step 9: Wait for the glue to dry then enjoy having fun with your superhero! Give him or her a name and with your parents supervision go outside and run around with your superhero. You can pretend to save the world from the bad guys!

Remember: both boys and girls can be superheros! Everyone wants to help make the world a better place.
