Little Book of Inspirations

In this activity, we will be creating a little book of inspirations to add a spark of positivity to your day! This expressive and creative activity is great for school age children. This little book is unique to you and you are in charge of decorating and choosing your own motivational quotes! Think about all the things that make you feel happy and empowered to tackle your day!

Supplies:

  • Blank paper or lined paper

  • Scissors

  • Stapler

  • Markers, pens, coloring pencils, or crayons

  • Optional: stickers or glitter

Activity Steps:

Before we begin, make sure your workspace is ready to go with all of your materials and work on a flat surface for best results.

Step 1: We will start off by folding our paper to make our little book! To make the book, grab your piece of paper and start by folding it half (horizontally or landscape, folding so that the long sides of the paper meet). Next, fold your paper in half again (vertically or portrait, folding so that the short sides of the paper meet). Then, we will fold the paper in half one last time (vertically). After folding, unfold your paper and you should see 8 rectangles.

Step 2: Now it is time to create the pages of the little book! We will begin by taking our scissors and cutting down the middle of the paper. (Please ask an adult for assistance if needed) You should now have 2 long pieces of paper with four rectangles on each paper. Then, put one paper on top of the other and cut down the middle fold. Now you should have 4 pages that look like cards. Next put them all together to create a book.

Step 3: For the next step we will be assembling the book together. Grab your stapler and staple all the pages together on the left side. You will need to staple 2-3 times along the left side to create a stable bind for your little book.

Step 4: Now it's time for the fun part, decorating your little book! On each page you will write something that inspires you. For example, “Each day is a new beginning!”, “Be the change you want to see in the world.”, and “Believe in yourself!”. After writing your inspirational quotes, you can decorate the page however you want! You may use any pencils, crayons, markers, coloring pencils, stickers, or glitter to customize your little book of inspirations! You can look at your little book of inspirations when you are stuck in a rut or just new a little bit of inspiration for the day! Another way to add to the little book of inspirations is to add your wins of the day, such as achieving a good grade on your assignment or test!
