Making your own mini snowman using cotton balls is an entertaining craft project for kids to make in the winter! This is an ideal craft for preschoolers to make with adult supervision. Preschoolers can work on fine motor skills with cutting out the shape for the snowman.School age children can complete this activity independently. Both age groups can choose what color earmuffs, and buttons they would like! These snowmen will be fun to use in pretend play or as decorations! Cotton ball mini snowmen will look super cute and snowy!
What you need:
2 cotton balls
2 googly eyes or paper for eyes
Orange paper for the nose
Paper to draw buttons or actual buttons
Pipe Cleaners for the arms or sticks
Pom pom for the hat
Glue or hot glue
Pencil/Marker
Paper plate/Newspaper
Instructions:
Step 1:First you are going to get everything you will need to make your mini cotton ball snowman and set it down on a hard surface like a table or counter top. You can put a paper plate down or newspaper to keep the area free of glue.
Step 2: Next you are going to take your two cotton balls and place a small amount of glue on top of one cotton ball. You want just enough glue to lightly cover the top of the cotton ball. Then glue the other cotton ball on top so you end up with two cotton balls glued together to make the snowman’s body!
Step 3: Place 2 googly eyes in the middle of the top cotton ball. You can also draw and cut out two eyes from a piece of paper.
Step 4: Then you are going to draw out a small triangle on the orange paper and cut out the triangle to make the snowman’s nose. Place a small amount of glue on the back of the triangle and glue the triangle underneath the eyes. Now you have the face of your snowmen made!
Step 5: Draw out two buttons that will be in the shape of a small circle from a piece of colored paper and place a small amount of glue on the back. Glue the paper buttons or actual buttons on to the bottom cotton ball in a row. You can design the buttons however you would like!
Step 6: Next you are going to cut two of the same size pipe cleaners and place a small amount of glue on the pipe cleaner. Glue on each side of the bottom cotton ball to make your snowmans arms.
Step 7: Take one pom pom and place a small amount of glue on it and then glue it to the top of the snowman to make a hat for your snowman!
Step 8: Lastly let the glue dry and then stand up your snowman! You even make a family of snowmen and give your snowman a name!
