DIY Bubble Wands

Updated: Jun 25, 2021

It’s time to ditch the plain ‘ol bubble wand and get those creative juices flowing! This DIY is a perfect chance for your toddler or school-aged child to create their own fun and explore what designs make the best bubbles. Whether you use a premade bubble solution, or create your own (instructions provided below), your child is sure to be “bubbly” with excitement by the end of this activity.

Materials

  • Fuzzy sticks/ pipe cleaners

  • Beads

  • Premade bubble solution or create your own (see below for materials)

Homemade Bubble Solution

  • 1 ½ Water

  • ½ Dish soap

  • Measuring cup

  • 2 teaspoons of sugar

Steps

Step 1: Let’s get started! Find a spot where you can spread out and get creative with this activity.

Step 2: Now it’s time to create! Your imagination is your limitation for this step. Bend your pipe cleaners into whatever design you would like.

*Tip for parents: This is a good way to talk with children about shapes. For older children, you can see if they are able to make certain shapes with their pipe cleaners.*

Step 3: When you are done creating, make sure the part of the pipe cleaner that will be dipped in the bubble solution is closed off.

Step 4: Decorate your wand! Choose any color beads you want and slide them on the pipe cleaner, pushing them toward the end where the bubble will come out. Make it as colorful as you want!

Step 5: Secure the beads by folding the end of the pipe cleaner upward. If the beads do not feel tight enough, twist the pipe cleaner around itself for extra security.

Step 6: Time to try out your creation! Dip your wand into the bubble solution, lift it out, and prepare to be blown away!!!

If making homemade bubble solution:

Step 1: To make your bubbles mixture by pouring ½ cup of dish soap into your bowl

Helpful Tip: The bubble mixture can be prepared before creating the wands

Step 2: Add 1 ½ cup of water and 2 teaspoons of sugar and mix it together slowly.

Helpful Tip: measure out the water and sugar before starting the bubble mixture for easy use

Have fun blowing bubbles with all of your wands!
