Peanut Butter Chocolate “Nice Cream”

So, what exactly is “nice cream”? Nice cream is a banana-based ice cream that is free from added sugar, dairy, and artificial colors and preservatives. Not only is this recipe healthy, but this dessert is quick, easy, and tastes just like ice cream! This recipe is sure to spark curiosity, love, and excitement for creating in the kitchen. Children will get to practice how to follow a recipe, learn how to use measuring spoons, operate blenders safely and discover that there are ways to make one of their favorite, sugary treats healthy and better for their bodies! With the help of caregiver supervision this is a great recipe to make with school-aged or preschool-aged children.

Supplies: serves 2-4

-4 frozen bananas (freeze in small pieces)

-2 tablespoons of cacao or cocoa powder

-2 tablespoons of peanut butter

-1 teaspoon vanilla


-ice cream scoop




Welcome everyone! Let’s start making some delicious nice cream!

Gather all the necessary supplies and clear some space on a table or kitchen surface.

Step 1: Slice up four bananas and store in the freezer until completely frozen.

Step 2: Set up the blender and plug it in so it is ready to go.

Step 3: First, put the frozen banana slices into the blender.

Step 4: Next, measure out two tablespoons of cacao or cocoa powder and put it in the blender.

Rinse out the tablespoon because you will need it in the next step!

Step 5: Now, measure out two tablespoons of peanut butter and scoop out into the blender.

Step 6: Lastly, measure out one teaspoon of vanilla extract and pour it into the blender.

Step 7: Next, combine all the ingredients in the blender on high-speed until smooth.

Step 8: Give it a taste test! Feel free to add in a little more peanut butter or cacao powder to your liking!

Helpful Tip: if the nice cream is too thick, add in and small amount of milk or a milk

substitute until the consistency is smooth

Step 9: Using an ice cream scoop or spoon, scoop some out into a bowl and enjoy your tasty
