DIY Egg Carton Sail Boats!

Updated: Jun 26, 2021

What You Will Need: An empty egg carton A tablecloth for paint protection Acrylic or finger paints Paint brushes Paper plates Cup with water in it Sticks from outside Scrapbook paper

Instructions:

With a parent or siblings help if required, cut the egg carton in half so that you have two half dozen egg cartons. Then, recycle the remaining supplies.

Next, prep for the craft! Fill your cup with water to clean your paint brushes throughout the activity. Ask the children what color paint they want to use and put the paint on the paper plate.

After, begin the craft. Let the children use their imagination and paint the “sailboat” however they want. This helps their creativity and artistic process. It is always so fun in the end to see what the children come up with!

Now head outside for a little fresh air and again, give the children the freedom to pick their own sticks. This allows them to decide how they want their sails to look.

Once you’ve let your paint dry on your sailboat, put two sticks in the holes on the egg carton so that they are standing up straight. Then, poke a hole with the stick through the scrapbook paper and let it hang off like a sail.

Finally before you let the kids play with the sailboats and run around exploring, sing the ‘clean up song’ and have fun while teaching them responsibility.

And….
