Coffee Filter Flower

Updated: Jun 26, 2021

This is an arts and crafts activity designed for preschool and school-age children. Preschoolers and school age children are given a choice and can decide which two (or three) colors they would like to use to color with. Children can use this to give as a gift to their family or friends, decorate the fridge with, or decorate your favorite window with. Preschoolers will need adult supervision and help when gluing down the coffee filter. School age children can complete this activity independently. Double check that you have all of your supplies (two coffee filters, glue stick, crayons/markers, and construction paper). You can make these flowers using almost any colors you like! Not only does this benefit children’s minds by expanding their creativity, but it also improves fine motor skills.

You Will Need:

-Two basket coffee filters

-Crayons or markers

-Construction paper

-Glue stick

Let’s Get Started!

Before starting the craft, gather different colored crayons or markers. Have a glue stick, coffee filters, construction paper, and crayons/markers easily accessible. Make sure you are working on a flat surface.

Step 1: Start by flattening out two coffee filters. Use a bright color to color the center of each filter completely.

Step 2: Next, use a glue stick to glue the filter centers onto separate pieces of construction paper (one coffee filter per piece of paper!).

Step 3: Then, use a green crayon to draw a flower stem and leaves. This can be any shade of green you like!

Step 4: Later, you can even add some “grass” to the picture!

Step 5: Lastly, if you want to add a bit more color, color the outside circle with a bright flowery color, leaving the center untouched.

You can either use a different color on the center or just leave it white. Feel free to add a big, blue sky to your picture to add to the beautiful effect!

You have now completed your coffee filter flower! Show it off to friends and family and hang it on your fridge or somewhere special to you!
